Japanese TV Programs Recommended by Instructors of Japanese New! (3 Aug 2013)

Copyright free. You may modify and forward it as well. But the original editor is not responsible for the content. The current version lists mostly serious programs on current topics in Japan and the world for intermediate/advanced learners; however, I would like to include more enjoyable programs. Your suggestion for adding new items is welcome. In particular, I would appreciate more information on enjoyable programs for elementary and intermediate learners of Japanese. Information from learners is highly welcome. Recommended programs are not necessarily for everyone. Please send your recommendation to (clickà)  with your comments. If it is really worth listing up, I would add the program(s) to the list.

Japanese Academic Word List Ver.1.

Yosuke Sasao, who is one of my colleagues, has created a word part levels test (English) as part of his PhD research. Why don’t you try it?

The new Japanese vocabulary database has been released!

There is a big change! The rankings will fit your needs better!

There are two types: the list for general learners and the list for international students.

This is a new vocabulary database created from a huge language data

called Balanced Corpus of Contemporary Written Japanese 2009 monitor version  (NINJAL, 2009)

which are sampled texts from many books and internet forum sites.

The database contains approximately 20000 words ranked by importance (usage coefficient: product of frequency and dispersion).

It also includes the former JLPT word level information.
